Magical Devices

Magic does not belong to wizards alone.

"Magical devices" are tools that bring the blessings of magic to ordinary people. In the workshops of Astrafora, artisans devoted to the craft compete to outdo one another, and the shops are lined with devices of every kind. They are woven deep into daily life in this world.

Take the "light": a lamp that stores the day's sunlight inside itself and releases it after dark, brightening the streets and homes at night. Or the "warming wrap," which keeps hot food and drink warm long after it would otherwise have cooled. The Academy's uniforms, too, are full of magical craftsmanship — stains wash right out, and they resist wrinkles and keep their shape. Inventions like these, each making life a little more convenient, are born every day.

If wizards are those who "use" magic, then magical devices are the wisdom by which magic is "shared."
